Dr Barry McCabe (BMed, FRACS)

Dr Barry McCabe is a specialist general and colorectal surgeon, a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS), and is accredited with the Gastrointestinal Enterological Society of Australia (GESA) for training in gastroscopy and colonoscopy.  He completed his specialist training with the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) in 2012. Dr Barry McCabe has pioneered minimally invasive colorectal surgery, being lead researcher for a ten year multi-centred Australian study showing improved outcomes with laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery.   Dr McCabe performed Australia’s first robotic trans-anal surgery at Westmead Private Hospital, and in 2009 he received the prestigious Brian Smith Memorial Award for Research into the Colon and Rectum.
