Diabetic Medications

If you are taking diabetic medication, it is advisable that you be placed first on the operating list and that you take only half your medication the day prior to your procedure, and none of your medication the day of your procedure.  If you are taking one of the new generation SGLT2 Inhibitor Diabetes Drugs such as
dapagliflozin, (Brand names DapForxiga, Qtern and Xigduo XR) or empagliflozin (brand name Jardiance, Jardiamet and Glyxambi), these should be stopped 3 days prior to your procedure to reduce risk of keto-acidosis.
